What Are Pen & Paper Roleplaying Games?
In this type of roleplaying game, participants take on new, often fantastical roles (characters), such as a powerful mage, a cunning hacker, or an explorer of unknown worlds.
Pen and paper (hence “Pen & Paper”) are frequently used to track changes to the character being played.
Many in-game events are determined by rolling dice. However, the fate of the characters is not decided by dice alone—players’ creativity, teamwork, and boldness also play a crucial role in their success.
The game world and all non-player characters (NPCs) are portrayed by the Game Master (GM), who presents the group with ever-new challenges and shares in their excitement along the way.
